CANCELLATION GUIDE

How to Cancel Individual Health Insurance

Step-by-step guide to cancelling your marketplace or private insurance plan.

1

Check your Gabriel Care + ACA status

Before cancelling anything, confirm your Gabriel Care membership is active AND your ACA Bronze plan is enrolled. Log into the Gabriel app and check your coverage status.

2

Identify your plan type

Marketplace plan (healthcare.gov or state exchange)? Or off-marketplace (bought directly from Blue Cross, Cigna, Aetna, etc.)? The cancellation process differs.

3

For Marketplace plans

Log into healthcare.gov (or your state exchange). Navigate to your current plan. Click 'End Coverage' or 'Cancel Plan.' Choose your end date — typically the 1st of the next month. Save your confirmation number.

4

For off-marketplace plans

Call your insurance carrier directly. Request cancellation effective the 1st of next month. Ask for written confirmation via email. Keep the confirmation number as proof.

5

Verify cancellation

After your cancellation date, check that no further premiums are charged. If auto-pay was set up, make sure it's stopped. Keep all confirmation emails for your records.

6

You're done

Your Gabriel Care + ACA Bronze coverage is now your primary. You're saving $128–500/mo with better wellness benefits. Welcome to Gabriel Care.

IMPORTANT

Never cancel your old plan until your ACA Bronze enrollment is confirmed. Gabriel Care covers wellness immediately, but catastrophic coverage needs ACA to be active.
